Journeys West!

Today we had our Journeys West Share Day. The Journeys West project represents the culmination of our study of early Oregon history. Each student chose a role of either: fur trader, pioneer, Native American, gold miner or explorer. Using the Library of Congress' Journeys West Memory Collection, students researched the roles using primary and secondary sources. Students formed groups with one of each role and curated a museum style display. The displays included diary entries written in first person point of view, a broadside advertising and enticing people to come west, and an artifact that each group may have used. Students also created extra pieces for their displays: poems, costumes, sketches, stories, models, videos and presentations. Please enjoy our work!
